Tenet

Tenet ★★★★★

I think the best way for me to describe Tenet, if this makes any sense whatsoever (and at the risk of sounding like I'm doing a David Ehrlich impression), is that it's like the equivalent of what you'd get if Michael Mann directed a Jerry Bruckheimer production from a Wachowskis script. Easily the year's most breathlessly paced, philosophically complex, and wildly imaginative blockbuster, Tenet may not be visionary writer-director Christopher Nolan's very best film but it is without a doubt his most daringly original and his most challenging, with some of the most jaw-dropping action set-pieces of the 21st century, an enthralling story told in a uniquely captivating way, stunningly gorgeous visuals, the most pulse-pounding musical score of any film this year, and fantastic performances throughout, with John David Washington's effortless charisma shining front and center and Elizabeth Debicki anchoring the film's heart and emotional weight beautifully.
