Yes, that was pretty much there. That solid silent atmosphere. Millie Simmonds is the greatest thing here.

Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood

Listen, I need to see those Spaghetti Western posters again.. It’s Tarantino doing that Scorsese manipulation of a audience again like Jackie Brown. This is a good thing. Well it beats the genre stuff he’s been peddling for the last 20 years. Really enjoyed the film within a film bit, only broken by actor fucking his lines. Left the cinema with real urge to watch the Wrecking Crew and The Mercenary.

Sweet moses....Quentin has a feet thing doesn’t he? I don’t need to fact check the internet.

‪’𝕋𝕙𝕖𝕪 𝕨𝕖𝕣𝕖 𝕒𝕕𝕚𝕠𝕤 𝕓𝕪 𝕥𝕙𝕖 𝕜𝕚𝕕 𝕚𝕟 𝕥𝕙𝕖 𝕥𝕦𝕣𝕓𝕠’‬

The cover for this had almost legendary status in my local video rental shop. Foil backed metallic popping off the 18 thriller / horror section. Next to all the other neo-future back lit mystery man in a motorcycle helmet video covers. The Exterminator.. The Vindicator. That was a thing... I’m sure there’s a list on Letterboxd

  • Sightseers

Natural Born Killers with creamy tomato pasta sauce and Gore-tex™ jackets.... I want a giant pencil from the Derwent Pencil Museum. But I imagine it’s a Wheatley concoction.

  • Dunkirk

    Tension master is back.

Back in 2017 this got abused politically. Had to wait a good 17 months. It feels like the edge of the world that coast line. Characters can see how close they are to home, but we as a audience don’t get that luxury. We don’t see the cliffs until the yacht Moonstone returns.

My Grandpop failed his first medical and wasn’t stranded on a french beach in 1940. When he did get back from the 4th…

  • Snowpiercer

Tried to watch this via Netflids™ round a mate's house. He's never seen it before and I was buzzing. Like how they couldn't be arsed with the Korean subtitles in the later half of the film. You had to put the CC subs on to get any character development out of Song Kang-ho & Ko Asung... and that's ridiculous.

  • Jurassic Park

    Jurassic Park

It’s taken me 25 years to really get Jurassic Park. Back in 93’ sitting in a humid cannon cinema, it was a pure spectacle film. But was surface to me. It had the misfortune of being compared to a ALIENS VHS that was rattling around in my head.

It always had a 2D character issue for me and looking for a 4th act. Wasn’t looking properly.

Something seemed to click with me this weekend. Started to see past the spectacle.…

  • The Fog

    The Fog

When Assault of Precinct 13’s Napoleon Wilson turns up as the town doctor! Never actually seen The Fog all the way through. I have fragments. Strong fragments.
Very much remember it being in heavy rotation on late night TV along with Halloween in my teens and you’d catch Escape from NY if you where lucky. Actually prefer the camera work on this compared to Carpenter’s previous slasher. It seems to be lit literally by candle light. It holds up this…
