Always would of liked to witness Magnetic Rose put to Oneohtrix Point Never’s reimagining of the soundtrack from 2014. Rose is the strongest one here. The most rounded. But they all have there own merits. Obsurd playfulness of Stink Bomb and the beautiful 50s polish animation style like a 2D montage that keeps unfolding in Otomo’s Connon Fodder.

A crime, I can’t put this on myshelf in a HD format in the West without putting down some decent import/dealer money!

When you fall in love with Revolution Wendy all over again. Like I did when I was 8.

  • They Shall Not Grow Old

    They Shall Not Grow Old

    ★★★★

It’s takes its sweet time.. boxed off B/W 16mm then draws you in ...HYPER REAL! Transformative ..a fresh hell.

  • Miracle Mile

    Miracle Mile

    ★★★★

I knew this was going to be this good... It’s how the obstacles escalate in front of Harry. That keeps trying to convince you this must be a fever dream. Great late 80s Tangerine Dream.

‪Why the fuck we didn’t get a spin off post apocalyptic movie of Jenette Goldstein and Co as Beverly Hills luxury bitches with Uzis‬.

  • Gremlins 2: The New Batch

    Gremlins 2: The New Batch

    ★★★★

Still holds up and better than the original. Satirical Gremlins attack every facet of culture. Nobody comes off easy, even turning on its own legacy. A joy to watch.

I've stayed at a small Hotel on E 40th St twice in last 5 years. It slowly dawned on me while rewatching it that I've used the ATM at the bottom of The Clamp Building.

  • Black Panther

    Black Panther

    ★★★★

This was decent. It’s a self contained film. A real surprise. No real cross over universe nonsense that’s befuddled recent stuff. Fantastic main performances. Instantly want to see more stuff with these characters. He was the most interesting thing about Civil War. Possibly the UN assassination attempt was originally meant to start this script maybe.

Jesus, some of that underground / monorail CGI just looked like straight CGI in the 3rd act fight. How much money do these films costs?…

  • Sunshine

    Sunshine

    ★★★★

I worked at lil’ cinema / art centre back in 2007. I took my Girlfriend to see Sunshine with free staff tickets I use to get. I came out so hyped from it, I paid for the ticket admission. Still one of the greatest cinema experiences ever.

  • Blade Runner 2049

    Blade Runner 2049

    ★★★★

Since 1984 Philip K Dick’s source material has been pillaged and blundered, this is the first film to give something back. Kay and Joi’s interactions feel like something he would of written if given the time.

  • Detroit

    Detroit

    ★★★★

Gripped. My nerves were in taters by the end of that hellish 2nd act. The parallels to Strange Days itself influenced by the Rodney King / LA Riots. My only regret is not catching Bigelow’s latest in a cinema. Blinding tension. This is real terror.

  • The Shining

    The Shining

    ★★★★

First time I ever witnessed this I was 11. My parents taped it off late night 80’s ITV, because my Dad thought the guy with the fire axe had a funny face. My mom made him stop the tape at the shower scene of course. Still have memories of the VHS tracking out at the emerald green bathroom and tuning back in with Jack stumbling down a orange corridor.

Several years later I had to watch it again to undo…

  • Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri

    Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri

The way those billboards are framed in that landscape makes me want to get back into the painting again... and also watch Blood Simple again. Get this watched!

  • Cul-de-sac

    Cul-de-sac

    ★★★★

When the  K O M E D A  record gets fucked up, I wanted to reach into the TV screen and batter that lil bollocks. Beautiful natural light. This is ‘ Knife in the Water ‘ in its male tension and claustrophobia but it’s lighter... But just as deadly when it needs to be!
