  • The Martian

    The Martian

    ★★★½

Some people would see the lack of peril as novelty.. I didn’t. Just made me think of Ennio Morricone’s soundtrack for Mission to Mars. How a mediocre film was elevated by that soundtrack. Maybe somebody could do a swap.

It’s better than Alien Covenant... I guess.

  • Johnny Mnemonic

    Johnny Mnemonic

    ★★★½

That Masamune Shirow lifted aesthetic for set prod value, specially in Jones and the interface head set. Henry Rollins and ICE T being put in everything by their agents in the mid 90s.

  • Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker

    ★★★½

I’m not saying anything. I cried the same quoter as the last two. Need to see it again.. a good send off.‬

  • The Warriors

    The Warriors

    ★★★½

Never actually seen this all the way throu. It’s ridiculous, but it gets away with it. Some of the gangs look they in a off Broadway show instead of defending it. But it seems to power on throu on concept & conviction in that opening 20mins. There seems to be a bit call a response here: Carpenter’s Assault on Precinct 13 > Hill’s The Warriors > Carpenter’s Escape From New York....

  • Arachnophobia

    Arachnophobia

    ★★★½

Memories of watching this on Sky at my aunties in Spain. Sister and me slowly tucking our legs in off the floor.

  • Spider-Man: Homecoming

    Spider-Man: Homecoming

    ★★★½

Enjoyed this little bit more the 2nd time around. The Queens burrows stuff feels great. Still think Edgar Wright would of made the New York music work how it was intended. God I love Micheal Keaton’s NYC salvage co piss and vinegar bossman. The prom night car interrogation is still great. The final set piece still feels little flat but that’s a sometimes MCU trademark these days. Too
much CGI to fix a plot problem. Iron Man in 2008 had it.

  • Prisoners

    Prisoners

    ★★★½

Haven’t seen this since it was new. After watching Sicario again a couple of weeks back it’s a twin how it welds that dread and tension.

  • The Abyss

    The Abyss

    ★★★½

Use to watch this a lot on the 1992 Director’s Cut Video it’s wh. Until I discovered 2001. For while I dismissed this as Alien’s Nostromo crew if they all didn’t hate each other’s guts, and had been on some team building corporate weekend. The trucker references from Cameron’s former occupation are pretty more on the nose.

  • Nacho Libre

    Nacho Libre

    ★★★½

What if Sergio Corbucci and Wes Anderson made a Luchador movie?

The heart this film has... Criminally unloved.
