  • Terminator: Dark Fate

    Terminator: Dark Fate

lil’ flat but functional, like a T-800 that’s been chewed up and squashed in a 3rd act. Don’t ever look up anything plot on this. There’s one or two biggies. Left thinking about Aliens and what Alien3 did with the toy set.

  • Deadpool

This boy is making a Terminator film. So I’m here to have a mooch around. You can see why it’s the case on the action sequences.

I didn’t laugh... X Men minor done right and the ending made me smile.

  • The Black Hole

    The Black Hole

Red Optical photography effects at the end of The Black Hole.. images that stick with you, your whole life... haunt you.

  • Sky Fighters

    Sky Fighters

Based on a 60s coldwar Saturday morning comicstrip by the creators of Asterix.

Same guy whom directed Luc Besson’s TAXI. Same hyperactive energy. They took Scott’s Top Gun asthetic of high contrast backlit arial photography to an extreme. Expensive film.. Just by the amount of airfuel and Mirage 2000 flight time. Mixed with some fairly impressive CGI shots of cockpit scenes. Where the film it’s trying to imitate would repeat a lot of footage... flip frames to rinse the money out…

  • Battle Angel

    Battle Angel

Out of all the anime that came on Manga UK video tapes in the 90s, this was the *most Studio Ghibli in pathos and spirit. It’s got better animation work than the Shirow OAV adaptations which haven’t dated well.

*Well never watched Royal Space Force: The Wings of Honnêamise back in 1994 which also has that Ghibli feature influence.

  • Mandy

Schlock dressed as ernest college art. This was a lot more schlock than I expected. Underwritten. Pretty in places but hollow. Music is half the battle and a Cage performance he should hang on to for a while.
