How can movie that looks as astonishing as this sag 45mins in as much as this does. Don’t get me wrong it has its moments. Bruce Spence popping up. Agent Smith becomes almost horror protagonist. Climate of fear was something that was missing from Reloaded. This film seemed to go into great lengths of reinstating that greenish hue of the Matrix world from the first film, specially in that final confrontation. The invasion of the docks was astonishing. Even down…
Bad euro club music reloaded.
This was kinda as good as the original. Little bit directionless. Another Terminator 2 bit with the Twins even down to the trucks & music, but it’s an amazing action sequence. White people with dreads and a smug sneer. It’s like a night out in Bristol. Do miss the look of the original film, that colour grading is gone from the film just in a costume and a art direction.. maybe it’s too big now..
Generations was that film that they had on repeat when you went into Curry’s or Comet to demo the big flat screen CRT tellys. Big shots of the Enterpise C dish ploughing into that forest in 1995 CDi quality definition, all sync’d on 10 sets like a CCTV control room. The preferred way to watch this.
This went under the name of: Wings of the Apache at the video shop and late night broadcasts.
With its war on drugs opening statement.. It’s a Army Aviation recruitment drive.
Think I possibly watched this more than Top Gun. It’s a discount store version of that film. Tommy Lee Jones, Young and Cage elevate it, making the ground scenes watchable, even with the hokey dialogue. At least these characters feel little less cool remote than the film it’s mimicking.…
Mate of mine got wind I was watching it. Just as told him about Conan getting gob’d on (Face, neck and chest) by a vengeful camel.
His reply on recalling the ending:
‘The ending has a Wizard with an etch-a-sketch‘
This didn’t happen. Still mental. It wasn’t half bad. The cast is mad. Sarah Douglas, Philly’s favorite son Wilt Chamberlain. Tracy Walter’s character straight from Repo Man. Just propped in. Even Grace Jones is great in this. Mad how Sven-Ole Thorsen…
Not sure why I did this…
On the edges there’s some intriguing stuff. Amazon and the mother-box reverse Alamo at the start is quite possibly Snyder’s greatest scene and that’s the first 30mins. There are moments. Even the final act had some pace to it. Steppenwolf getting juggled by three of them. It’s an improvement on B v S, at least these characters are likable. Cyborg looks visually jarring, but both him and Flash come off more interesting then the…
