Tatsuya Nakadai is still mesmerising. Strangely resembles Mifune's haunting demise in Throne of Blood. That beautiful ashen landscape with a splash YELLOW then the RED flows and later BLUE. Always had this carm inevitable quality to it, bit like the lords premonition of his own demise. Even at it's most brutal everything feels harmonious. Removal of digetics from the Castle siege is breathtaking. Just movement and score. Then occasionally the sun dips behind clouds and comes out again. Pretty film.
