Jimmy Dean’s review published on Letterboxd:
This is my mum's favourite film. I remember liking it a lot when she introduced me to it, but I'd forgotten just how insane it is, while also under-appreciating how incredibly funny it is as well. Baz Luhrmann's made one of the only films that I actively hate, but his style suits this story so brilliantly, mostly because it actually suits the tone of the material he's written, so everything is just over-the-top fun. All the little nuances of the performances, from Jim Broadbent's popping eyes, to Richard Roxburgh's snide expressions, make this such a rich experience. I sometimes think I'll never like a Baz Luhrmann film again, but for how much I enjoy Molin Rouge!, I don't really care.
