This deserves a better poster, looks like you are in for a cartoonish camp-fest. While you can't say it's a terrifying film, it's not really "fun" either. Larry Talbot has serious issues which are not helped by turning into a sort-of wolfish person; he won't even wear a necklace to save his own life. Unexpectedly thought-provoking and the effects aren't that bad in the context of the gloomy black & white forest setting. I think was prejudging it based on cheesier sequels.
Pretty good adaptation of the manga Youkai Hunter, tho I'm not very familiar with the storyline. Can see why this has been kinda buried as it has little in common thematically with the Tetsuo movies that Tsukamoto's famous for, but the visual effects are really the star here.
