Jenna Ipcar’s review published on Letterboxd:
The movie America needs right now. Well done, thoughtful, smart, based on reality, funny, scary, satisfying and terrifying. John David Washington and Laura Harrier were both amazing. This felt fresh and purposeful, I’m glad to see Spike Lee back to form after a couple of films that just felt kind of unfocused to me.
The footage of Charlottesville moved me to tears. Watching that footage roughly a year after the event, personally knowing somebody who was hospitalized after it because he was attacked by white supremicists, and seeing it juxtaposed with these goofy hateful idiots in the film, was just a lot to take in right now. But it was a perfect ending and I’m glad he included it.
