I pretty much agree with Mike https://boxd.it/sUz4L.
That said, sometimes a movie comes at just the right time. Impending fatherhood seems fine. Just fine.
It's a really exciting time to be someone who loves boundary pushing pop art cinema. I'm glad to be living through this and might just have a kid so that it can share in the greatness that looks to lie ahead.
On a side note, I rode Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout! last week and it was joyous, the most *fun* short form screening/theatrical experience I've had in years (not including "Lamfanti Presents" programming).
Enjoyed this and it got me pretty excited for more Marvel crossovers. Seeing Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) alongside Wong (Benedict Wong) and Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson) on screen gave me hope that someday Poe Dameron and Daisy Domergue might find their way into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (yes, I know Oscar Isaac was in an X Man movie but that does not count).
Also, as someone who read the novel, I was completely down with this as an adaptation. Hope the other books in trilogy get as good of a treatment.
Sad to learn that Colin Trevorrow is off the Star Wars pic since BOOK OF HENRY has been one of the great enjoyable surprises of the year so far. That said, I hope he gets to do more personal projects like HENRY rather than cookie cutter blockbusters (don't get me wrong, I love cookies!)
