    The Matrix

The first Wachowski blockbuster (some would say the only GOOD Wachowski blockbuster), The Matrix is an action-packed quest for freedom from the unknown technological prison 'The Matrix'.

Being born in 2003, I wasn't around for the turn of the century, the major evolution of technology or the impact this film had and even though I find a lot of it cheesy and somewhat generic from today's standards, I have no trouble loving this film. From its black leather costumes to…

    Solo: A Star Wars Story

Solo: A Star Wars story is the 10th film in the Star Wars franchise. It is also the 4th Disney Star Wars Film, the second anthology film and the 5th prequel. Star Wars in my opinion is losing the magic it once had from Disney now pumping one film out per year, each so far vareing from just fine to simply bad.I was disappointed with the previous 2 entries in the Star Wars Franchise (Rogue One and The Last Jedi)…

Spiral: From the Book of Saw

A return to form for the Saw franchise. Darren Lynn Bousman's direction is as haphazard as ever, Chris Rock delivers a solid performance and the gore (although much more spread out than previous entries) lives up to the Saw title. Unlike the previous entry, this feels like a legitimate jumping off point with places for the franchise to go next and I'm here for it baby!

Sufficed to say I loved it, definitely the most tense watch I've had in a while. Great acting, awesome gore effects, interesting use of the zombie genre and some of the best use of the found footage genre I've seen. Also something about people screaming at each other in Spanish just gets my heart pumping. Great stuff really.

Not the best of starts for Hooptober this year I must say. Sinister 2 is a boring, watered down sequel composed of the basic elements from the original but with none of the charm. With a likeable enough lead heading this boring plot, I felt nothing but drowsy during the runtime with exception to the gore tapes, which have almost reached a saw level complexity and entered the realm of comedy. If you liked the first one, I’d say maybe give this a go but don’t get your hopes up.
