School on Fire

School on Fire ★★★★½

"You said outside is your territory, well inside the school is mine!"

It's been a long time coming, but I finally watched this and "fire" is in the title for a reason.

Lam has cooked up a high octane explosive melodrama with a massive anti power streak. No matter what your lot in life is there is always someone above you. When your young it's teachers and parents, adult it's your boss and cops, for cops it's the Triads, and for the Triads it's older Triads. Most people shut up and take it. Others pop a bunch of "Altoids" and burn that mother down.

The climax is so damn crazy. Only regret is all the post script was left untranslated on the version I watched.

Final note, it had been a while since I've seen "Prison on Fire", but the last act of this cements Roy Cheung as a god-tier bad guy when paired with that role.
