    Bandits of Orgosolo

    At Home - PLEX

Sort of Italian neo realist Noir Western. De Seta extends what he visited in his short film Shepherds of Orgosolo (with touches of a few others). A peasant shepherd is accused of murdering a policeman but rather than defend himself he and his kid brother take their flock of sheep deep into the beautiful Sardinian mountains and countryside. Some amazing meditations on survival and distrust of the justice system. Non actors are terrific and the films…

At Home - PLEX [Watched thirteen 52m episodes over the span of 1 week]

Truly amazing documentary series about the SIlent Film Era in Hollywood, many interviews from the 70s with iconic filmmakers like Henry King, Allan Dwan, King Vidor, Lewis Milestone, Frank Capra (who was Fun Factory gagman) and actors such as Gloria Swanson, Lillian Gish, Mary Astor and a very moving Jackie Coogan piece when discussing The Kid and Chaplin.

Each episode has a topic that is explored…

Saadia is a cool female lead who feels that because of her bad luck she is responsible…

Once Were Brothers: Robbie Robertson and The Band

    IFC Center - DCP

    Behind the Music+

Recycled footage and interviews tell Robbie's story. I am a huge fan of The Band and have been for as long as I can remember. I read Levon's book when I was a teenager and read Robbie's recent Testimony almost as soon as it hit shelves but the lack of a Garth Hudson interview and the fact that Rick Danko, Richard Manuel and Levon Helm are dead allows the filmmakers and Robbie to…
