The thing that really gets me about Promising Young Woman is you watch this whole thing, that's on for 2 hours or something, and you're actually living the life of the protagonist and putting yourself in that place. And in the last 20 minutes of it, we have Al Monroe, one of the most hateful of the rapist guys in the movie and there's Cassie played by Carey Mulligan, who's the protagonist that you've been following the most. At the end, she has Al Monroe and she handcuffs him to a bed. And Cassie is going to knife him, she's gonna give him a peeling to end all peelings. And you've been waiting almost 2 hours for this. And naturally, they do the thing that they normally do in most movies. She actually fails at doing it. And the moment that happened, all over the world, a hundred million people screamed "NO! Eviscerate his motherfucking ass!"
Despite that, this still gets 5 stars.
