If not for Robin Wright this would have been grossly too long. They for sure went for it in a heavy handed way which is respectable. The Edwin McCain “I could not ask for more” during the end credits was a nice touch and very 1999.
Paul Raci gives an incredible performance.
Truly what I’m looking for in a movie. A tribute to the recoup, rebuild, retire, and relearn. People in band are sheltered which means they aren’t so susceptible to the outside, which leads them to growth others can’t comprehend. It’s a mix of East and West Philo that resonates.
Hearing the world through what is going on in his head is a huge part of the film, and not what most want to generally hear in a film as it can be off-putting — and that’s to shame!
“I only know what they tell me” is the greatest line I’ve heard in a movie all year and has been rattling in my brain for months.
I’ve watched this twice and haven’t written a review because I didn’t want to build up any preconceived notions for anyone who hasn’t seen it. But, at this point, I have to log it— I have to!
