Blood and Black Lace

Blood and Black Lace

almost never have i seen a vibier film. the kind of italian 1960s flair that wondrously underlines everything visual, nearly boiling over with style in the best way. the colors. the COLORS ! it is immaculately shot, its framing and lighting always memorable and fascinating to look at. blood smeared breasts never worked so well. at risk of turning this into the most insufferable letterboxd review in history, the visual language speaks and sings to me. the style and unwavering opulence with the help of a moody, tense soundtrack, is the stage for one of the earliest, and a very forward thinking gialli. i’m somewhat familiar with, though not as well versed in the genre as i would like to be. interest piqued by Blood and Black Lace, it feels like a good excuse to explore everything else in the giallo canon i havent seen yet.
