    Manos: The Hands of Fate

    Watch #4 of Hoop-Tober 7.0

Watching Manos: The Hands of Fate while tired, alone, and sober was certainly one of the more stupid decisions I've made recently. This is of course a vertiable classic of the 'so-bad-it's-good' family, yet when my crazed cackling wasn't being reciprocated by someone sitting next to me, my viewing became as sobering and solemn as trudging through a graveyard. With no outlet for my bemusement, everything from Torgo convulsing to the wild dubbing only…

    They Remain

    Watch #3 of Hoop-Tober 7.0

Gorgeous camera work and invigorating performances elevate an otherwise meandering and self-indulgent time-sink. I love abstract and art-house dream-sequences as much as the next person, but their incessance in They Remain devolves from intruiging to inert really fast.

I find that it encapsulates the feeling and the spirit that exists at this time of year like no other movie. I really connected with…

    The Lovely Bones

As soon as the credits rolled for 'The Lovely Bones,' I recognized a profound dislike for the film suddenly wash over me. Now, I don't necessarily hate the 'film' and its mechanics, as I do think it features many admirable attributes. My hatred is directed towards how such a monumental opportunity for an emotional and unique film was absolutely wasted by the creators. When you look at the interesting concept here, you can't help but become frustrated by its near-careless…
