2018 was really the year of skateboarding movies huh!!! oh my god. this was so so brilliant!!! might be my fave doc that i've seen in a while and i'm really happy i got to see it on the big screen. i think part of what made this so special is that the director himself (bing liu) was one of the three lives that the film focused on, and i think the fact that he was so intimately connected with the other subjects of the documentary made it impossible to look at their lives objectively, and there's something really beautiful in that. this was their adolescence, and this was their shared experience.
i will be rooting for this one at the oscars!!!!
