This would make a great companion piece with "Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood (2019)". Both directors Quentin Tarantino and Edgar Wright are obsessed by the roaring sixties, with Tarantino paying tribute to cinema and Wright doing the same with music and showbusiness. And there's a lot of awesome sixties music in this!

Both films have a dark and sharp edge, with Wright's film surprisingly being totally devoid of humour. This is an older Edgar Wright shoving his talent for…

Just the right amount of insanity I love!

James Wan's return to horror is a most welcome return to form in a genre in which he excells. He's as big a horror nerd as many of us and especially in the case of "Malignant" he starts to explore the genre in a direction as far away removed as possible from the PG-13 haunted house scares he's most frequently hired for.

You could say he's now made the best giallo hybrid…

Mario Bava's last film is a competent little psychological ghost story like a long episode of "Tales from the Crypt". It's finally restored on Blu-ray by the fine folks of Arrow Video.

With quite a lot of trippy visuals, a child's lullaby and many dream sequences, this comes off as a psychological fever dream.
Daria Nicolodi, ex-wife of Dario Argento, was excellent as a widow who lost her husband in suicide and moves back to her old house after having…

Director John A. Russo is the least talented part of the collaborative masterpiece "Night of the Living Dead (1968)", a film that can now be solely credited to George A. Romero. I especially found Russo an exploitative hack after butchering this classic in 1999 for a 30th anniversary re-release omitting 15 minutes of footage and replacing it with 15 minutes of abysmal new footage noone ever asked for.

Considering his track record as a filmmaker, I can safely say "Midnight…

We didn't go out of 2021 with a bang but with a whimper.

A corporate soulless product that mocks you by incorporating the fact that it's a corporate soulless product as a joke in its narrative. This isn't a parody, this is self-mockery to the point of insult. The joke's on you.
Lana Wachowski turning all her disdain for getting pushed into making yet another Matrix film while making sure it's virtually impossible for Warner Brother executives to continue with…

David Bruckner is a horror director worth following with not a single movie on his name to disappoint. "The Signal (2007)", his segments in both "V/H/S (2012)" and "Southbound (2015)", episodes of the Creepshow TV series and his excellent creature feature dipped in folklore "The Ritual (2017)" were all worth our time.

What started out as a generic haunted house horror film, evolved to so much more with a dash of existential folklore horror. It's an achievement to turn things…
