This is the prettiest ugly movie I’ve ever seen. The sudden flashes of gore were expected, but I wasn’t expecting them to be shot so intimately, like it was highlighting the beauty of violence. The style of this film is the biggest highlight for me and it is used in a way that’s extremely effective for it’s themes.
An examination of the psyche, one’s sense of identity constantly in flux, senses being overloaded, being trapped, being controlled. This film gripped me and shook me over and over again. It is chilling in way that makes you feel gross, but it is stylized in a way that makes you feel overwhelmed. It’s both hard to look at and hard to look away from.
This was bold.... I screamed a lot
