Tenet ★★★★

“Don’t try to understand it, feel it”

Let me say before starting this off, that being back in a theater is weird as hell man. Being in the same room as 20+ people who all are kind of awkwardly shifting between masks on and off was pretty uncomfortable, but at least the movie was good? Probably not good enough to be risking my health for, but oh well. Still impressed that I somehow still had annoying moviegoers in the audience during a fucking pandemic.

Anyways, Tenet is pretty damn great! I’m usually pretty hit or miss with Nolan’s filmography (the only constant I have with him being that I hate his awful sound mixing) but this might be contender for my new favorite of his. It feels really thought out, and once I understood what was going on, this became a blast! Awesome action set pieces left to right, with a fantastic score to boot. The pacing is EXTREMELY brisk, and really cuts to the chase on anything it needs to show you.

All the performances were great; Robert Pattinson once again showing off his godlike range. John David Washington was also great, hope to see him in more stuff in the future. All around awesome cast, but some of the best scenes in this film really are the ones where 50+ people are all scrambling around on screen, perfectly capturing chaos.

I don’t want to say much else so I don’t spoil anything for anyone, but do know that this is a great thriller, and certainly worth a watch. Strong 8 on this one, could definitely be higher on a rewatch; preferably one where I don’t have to wear earplugs throughout the entire run of the film.
