This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

Wow. I legit have not been left this speechless since I first saw Y Tu Mamá También last year. This is trippier than Midsommar and has one of the best plot twists since Parasite. You think it's about something than it turns out, nope! It's actually a ghost/haunted house movie! Thomasin McKenzie here is legit one of the best performances I have ever seen. Anya Taylor-Joy, Michael Ajao, and Diana Rigg are also fantastic. Edgar Wright's best non-Cornetto trilogy movie…

Alright, it’s been a while since the last time I watched this, but my opinions have changed. Of course I ate this shit up when I was 16. But has my defense of it held up over time? Not really, but kind of.

Let’s start with cons. What’s up with the soundtrack? In Guardians of the Galaxy, the soundtrack works because it’s what Peter knows. Here, it’s just “let’s just shove popular shit in the general public’s face”.

    The CGI. I’d…

Aside from the amazing visual effects and cinematography, this is pretty forgettable. Cool story, but Doctor Strange is kind of a dick at the beginning and it's hard to root for him. The humor didn't really work for me either aside from like 2 jokes, and the ending was kinda stupid. And most of the characters were forgettable aside from Doctor Strange, The Ancient One, and Wong. Probably the weakest in Phase 3 of the MCU, but still a fine watch.

Beautiful, perfect art. Lynch is quite the filmmaker, and this is the perfect taste of his work. Kyle MacLachlan and Laura Dern are icons and this is an amazing example of why. Dennis Hopper is frightening, Isabella Rossellini is great, and Dean Stockwell too. Really good shit. "Pabst Blue Ribbon!"

The last log the late, great Eli Hayes will ever have on Letterboxd. As for the short itself, it was interesting. Not sure what I can really say about it, but it was worthwhile.

Pete Docter and Pixar really blew me away with this one. It really pushes the boundaries of animation in a way that no mainstream Hollywood animated movie has done since at least Inside Out. That voice acting was also great and Reznor & Ross always kill it with the score. A top 10 Pixar movie for me for sure and IMO, their best work since the aforementioned Inside Out. Hopefully Pete Docter can lead Pixar into making more movies like this!
