Disney's "The Fox and the Hound" (2021)

Seriously though, this film was super engaging and emotionally salient. My biggest qualms were the terrible CGI on the fox and the double casting of Vikander.

I think the pacing was perfect and the aesthetic's did not disappoint. Most importantly, I got to see two of my longtime actor crushes kiss each other :))))) (is that a spoiler? oh well heehee).

This is the most underrated Ghibli film by far. You can feel Miyazaki pouring his heart out into it. The ending breaks my heart every time, and I genuinely think the English voice acting is good! An overall gorgeous tribute to an artists’s muse.

This film gracefully walks the line between a brutally honest depiction of poverty/crime and a stylized fetishization of the life of a "hood". You are immersed in the world as much as you repulsed by it. The editing is superb, the cinematography gorgeous, and the costume design impeccable. I also really like how the story is told from Rocket's POV. As an audience member, we are not a measly spectator of the crime, but we are not exactly a "hood"; we have a just the right amount of emotion invested in the plot. One of my favorite films ever.
