Zack Snyder's Justice League

Zack Snyder's Justice League ★★★★½

The Last Jedi to Dawn Of Justice’s Revenge Of The Sith. Where the prior descended into fascist darkness, Justice League finds desperate hope, pushing past the world-breaking grief these characters are burdened with to fight for a world they realise is worth it. A world where every action holds colossal weight (some of these images are the most Malickian in recent blockbusters). If Kal-El’s naive idealism bought the world to ruin in Man Of Steel’s climax, him rediscovering humanity and compassion will avenge it. Whilst not a masterpiece, in form it is a structural marvel that Snyder directs the cunt out of; as operatic, colossal and overwhelming as it deserves to be, while being utterly personal. No snark deserves to be thrown at a project this full of love. Joss Whedon found dead in a ditch.
