Inferno ★★★★

Inferno is an interesting successor to Suspiria. While the previous film offered little in the way of narrative and character in favor of atmosphere, they take an absolute backseat here to visual splendor. It's even more grandiose in its colourful craziness! Overall, it suffers from the lack of Jessica Harper, Goblin, and that haunting Black Forest, but it's actually engaging in its own way of being driven by pure esoteric surrealism. It becomes a series of insanely well-crafted set pieces, including a wonderful murder by lunar eclipse moonlight that goes so far off the rails, then just keeps going. Plus I love me some cat throwin'!
