I loved this movie so much when it came out, and then almost entirely forgot that it existed. So it was fun to revisit! Through 2022 eyes, it's almost unbelievable how much budget this movie had to do ridiculous things like having a disembodied demon hand ripping off Dexter Holland's scalp? It's extremely '90s, from the cast to the fashion to the depiction of stoner culture, and it's also extremely silly despite the copious gore and high body count, but I have to admit, I still enjoyed it.

The poster for this on Letterboxd is a million times better than the artwork YouTube have got for it. Also, it's so weird seeing young Brando.

I feel like I know this is a classic but I've left it a few days and kind of forgotten everything about it, so, like, that doesn't say good things for my brain, does it?

Maybe it's because Diablo Cody is a controversial writer; maybe it's because Megan Fox is considered to be a bad actress; maybe it's because it was marketed as a sexy movie for boys when it's actually a movie about female friendship. Maybe it's all of the above.

But while this movie has been written off as a trashy failed experiment in horror comedy,…

Amy Adams was totally right to dump Jake Gyllenhaal. That guy took 20 years to write a really fucking shitty crime novel.
