As someone who wants to go into law someday, the setting was engaging enough in itself.
Other than that, I found the story rather uninspiring. Unnecessarily complex with no substance and cohesion, almost like in a Kafkaesque way without the redeeming qualities of what makes one work worthy of being called Kafkaesque. I get that it's based on a real story, but I just wish they gave it more... depth? In a way. The ending was to be expected, as it's a rather centrist movie, but there were some plot points here and there where I wish they could've delved into more. Eitherway, I still enjoyed watching this.
For a movie that talks a lot about cultural revolution, this did not serve its point. I get what they were trying to do, though. I think.
