Wow ! what a knockdown !
To say it's a bit like a Fellini's version of a French New Wave must be an offence for mr. Skolimowski as he was simply so sui generis in the world of the 60s arthouse cinema.
"Barrier" is a rebellious, daring and dazzlingly executed guerilla film-making bristling with subtle poetic halftones and sardonic humour. Every scene here is a winner and the jazzy score by Krzysztof Komeda must rank in one of the most captivating, eeriest soundtrack in the history of the world cinema.
A real gem, a masterpiece.
