I’m happy to hear you’re doing fine

I was overjoyed to find this film!! Interesting titles always capture my attention so I was intrigued from the get go. Speaking of the title, I learned it’s a reference to a painting called The Hunters in the Snow hm.

The film depicts these amazing tableaux through an absurdist, surrealist, episodic format. All the scenes are connected but there’s no storyline. I know that sounds off, but trust me. Most often, I was…

And I thought of all the grief and sadness and fucked up suffering in the world, and it made me want to escape

This is the first film I have seen from Araki, and wow what a strong way to start off. Araki absolutely nails it in terms of both writing and directing. The cinematography and mise en scene are amazing and work to perfectly enhance the suspenseful tone of the film. The lighting is exceptional, as a dark and chilling atmosphere is created. I…

Recently I was thinking about how impressed I was with Jake Gyllenhaal’s performance in Zodiac. And that made me think about how blown away I was by his performance in Prisoners. And that made me think how long it’s been since I’ve watched what I consider to be his best performance ... rewatch time.

This film is insane. My heart is still beating so fast from the sequence near the end. If you have not seen this film, I definitely recommend the watch!
