Raiders of the Lost Ark

Raiders of the Lost Ark ★★★★½

After watching Raiders of the Lost Ark for the very first time, I felt true shame. It's unfortunate that I don't have a whip, leather jacket, or fedora because otherwise I would be willing to go on an adventure like this anytime. For now, Raiders of the Lost Ark will more than do. On a serious note, nothing says "classic cinematic adventure" more than Raiders of the Lost Ark. It's a perfect example of escapism that doesn't have to dumb down or overload on visual effects to tell its story. All of the action feels practical and real. At any moment, I actually felt a sense of danger for the protagonist, which only made me root more and more for Indy to survive. Harrison Ford owns another iconic role and its hard to fault his charisma or charm. He's different enough from Hans Solo, but at the same time Harrison Ford still has that same charm he inflects in the Star Wars movies, which is something no one else could pull off.

Like I stated before, this was my first viewing and I was surprised by how violent this movie actually was. That's not a bad thing because I absolutely loved it. Especially, during the final twenty minutes when the ark is opened. I couldn't contain my laughter during some of it. In the end, Raiders of the Lost Ark is another classic that lives up to its reputation. Also, look, it's Alfred Molina. Another surprise.

4.5/5 ( I've changed my rating system again. I can't make up my mind with these things, but hopefully this will stick for me this time.)
