We really didn't need another superhero movie after this.
A few notes on this revisit:
- Pulls no punches on the domestic trauma front. This is about a husband and father's real betrayal. That late-night fight between the parents is uncomfortably true to life.
- "Tonyloaf"
- Elastigirl caught in the series of doors is better than almost any superhero action sequence staged since.
- "I never look back darling. It distracts from the now." (What does this mean for Incredibles 2?)
- Jason Lee's Syndrome is a great villain: entertaining, good motivation, clever plan.
- The kids said they've watched this too many times, so my wife and I watched it alone. Which is fine, because it was really made for us.
Literally one of the greatest movies ever made. You cannot tell me any different. 5 minutes until the sequel, hmmmmmmm
MASTAPIECE
An absolutely flawless, mature family drama. It genuinely feels like it was written for adults first and kids were kind of an afterthought. Animation as a medium rarely gets better than this.
Decided to up the rating to a full five stars for the 'bloke factor'.
First time I saw this was in the theaters when it came out. Loved it then. Now, a rewatch on the telly almost ten years later and I loved it even more.
Brad Bird understands the animation genre so well. The Incredibles is an almost perfect example of how impeccable comedic timing and a character driven adventure can imbue that mystical and essential element a film like this needs. Fun. And the unashamed fun this has with the genre is irresistibly infectious, making it one of the best adventure films ever in my eyes.

I've lost count how many times I've watched this, think it's somewhere between 10 to 12. I can remember every line, every detail, every facial and music cue, it's bordering on disturbing.
Still enjoyable though. Visually fantastic and meticulously written with some flawless comedic timing. "We're dead. We're still alive but we're dead." gets me every fucking time.
I haven't seen this movie in ages and I was worried that revisiting it would make me realize it's bad, since the first act felt so slow and disappointing to me. But as soon as the omnidroid showed up, I remembered how fucking intense and genuinely unstoppable and terrifying that machine felt when I saw it as a 12 year old. Then every doubt washed away. The only thing I could even say against it is that the 3D animation feels SO dated at times.

The Incredibles is pretty much one of the gold standards in the animation genre just as among the countless others Pixar has efficiently created, but this one always stood out to me because I reasonably feel like this tackles the family component exactly right out of all the Pixar films ever made so far.
The character's personalities and their dynamic interactions with each other throughout demonstrates this very well, and I'm extremely appreciative of director Brad Bird for making such a flawless animated superhero feature for all to enjoy as this film will forever remain a timeless classic.

It’s definitely a good and fun movie, but it does have some problems. I don’t really like how most of the movie focuses on just Mr Incredible and the rest of the family don’t really become important until halfway through the movie. It’s also not as funny as other Pixar films and the omnidroid is really lame. But it still have enjoyable characters, great super-hero action mixed with warm family values and a good villain.
