Bruce Hallerton becomes coach of the Panthers, a little league baseball team. The fact that an attractive widow has her son in the team causes problems with his wife.
Tom Ewell plays an attorney who’s also a manic depressive NY Yankees fan and Anne Francis plays his way a too attractive for him blonde housewife, who is worried that he’s spending more time listening to the Yankees play by play announcers than with their young son Rudy Lee..So he agrees to manage the summer little league Panther’s team...on top of his players not executing simple baseball fundamentals, he also has to deal with the meddling parents..his wife starts to show a sudden interest in the game once she discovers the teams soft throwing right-hander pitcher has a dish for a mom with come-hither looks Ann Miller.
It’s a lightweight comedy, it has some moments but there’s more swings and misses and tends to slump in some parts...but I’ll give Tom credit with his attractive co-stars..so I’ll rate this one just above the Mendoza Line.
Ann Miller day on TCM Summer Under the Stars.
A father agrees to coach a little league team. Lessons are learned. Parents in the 50’s were apparently just as awful as little league and soccer parents today.
Ann Miller plays the single mom of a player on the team. It’s more a baseball movie than an Ann Miller movie, but it shows her range.

TCM Summer Under The Stars 2020
Ann Miller
Based on this movie, sports parents haven’t changed much at all. They are still trying to make their kids into sports stars.
Tom Ewell plays Bruce Hallerston, a small town lawyer, who gets roped into becoming a Little League coach. Anne Francis plays his wife Betty while Ann Miller plays Doris Patterson, the mother of one of his players.
A non musical role for Anne Miller and it has an appearance from Dean Jones too.
I didn’t really care for this movie.
