feminist lesbian strippers drugging and robbing wall street criminal dudes while giving oscar worthy performances is my favorite film genre
“we were fucking hurricanes, weren’t we”
not a joke in the slightest: this is one of the best films of the year. a movie with a premise like this could have been made in a million horrible ways, but this is a perfect example of how good something can be when treated just right. it’s engaging from the first scene until the cut to black. everyone is a star player, j-lo is ridiculously great and even cardi b and miss riverdale bring comedic moments that land every time. and the whole thing is tied up in a plot so warm that i’m genuinely taken aback. you have to see this thing for yourself
HUSTLERS fucking RULES! as stiletto-sharp & satisfying a story of financial crisis as Hollywood has made since 2008. Jennifer Lopez hasn’t been this good since Out of Sight. hell she wasn’t even this good *in* Out of Sight.
HUSTLERS XXL is gonna be the best film ever made.
As soon as "It's Britney bitch" hit I knew I was watching one of the best movies of 2019
even though lorde wrote royals 7 years ago, she should still win the academy award for best original song on account of the fact that she was clearly inspired by a psychic vision of it being used in this film
“stand in the corner, or get in the ring”
can’t even remember the last time i had so much fun in a theater. a movie about j-lo and her daughters scamming money from men can be so personal sometimes
The fun parts are so great, the serious emotional parts didn’t land too hard for me, and the relationship dynamics between JLo and ConWu (workin on it) felt so malleable and quick-changing in the second half of the film. But this movie still rules. JLo is terrific, Keke Palmer is hilarious, Cardi B is perfect, and I would watch a full 2 hour film that was just a Linklater-style hangout movie in the dressing room of that strip club.
So unrealistic. Man said he "wasn't feeling it" when JLo was giving him a lap dance. Pshhh I know I was
I also want a hoody with the fond JUICY with capital letters and listen to lorde and walk down the street
that scene where ramona and destiny are smoking on the roof, huddled up underneath a fur coat... let's go lesbians
The movie is delivered with purpose and real intent -- Hustlers really is a fist-pumpingly good time at the movies
i'm just convinced that any film that uses a song by lorde CORRECTLY is a good film, and this is one of them. women!
