There’s not a whole lot that happens in this movie but its quietness and stunning scenery is where its beauty lies. The Australian landscape always makes such a beautiful backdrop for movies, and Western Australia looks drop dead gorgeous here in this film.
It’s a pretty stock standard romance story, an unfulfilled woman and a brooding outsider meet and fall in lust and love, enter angry ex-boyfriend in the guise of David Wenham and there’s your story.
Garrett Hedlund is fine, his accent is a little off at times. Kelly MacDonald is the standout of the cast, she has a really nice gentleness and realness to her screen persona, and her Australian accent is flawless. But as I said before, the true star of the film is the Australian landscape, the film is worth watching for that alone.
