“What will you do when you find out who you are?”
My first watch was October, 2005 on the IFC channel. I honestly didn't like it very much (rated it about 3-4/10). I do think the dialogue and delivery of it was somewhat stilted, but over the course of 15 years, I've grown to appreciate Hal Hartley as an auteur more and more. Plus, it was streaming on MUBI and Isabelle Huppert is my favorite living actress. Add these things up and I decided to give it another chance.
Besides characters falling into convenient situations, I sort of liked this existential meandering film a whole lot better a second time. The comedic parts still fell a flat, but overall, Hartley put something interesting together.
