Unpopular opinion incoming:
I don’t understand the hype that this film gets. Like it was entertaining and good enough but it wasn’t absolutely spectacular. I get that’s it’s a man who wants to drive all of the low life’s out of his city and he succeeds in doing so with some old fashioned American violence. He’s hailed as a local hero at the end. I get all that but I don’t know. I just wasn’t interested enough by the film. I mean I should like this film. It has everything I love about movies. But something is missing and I can’t quite put my finger on it.
Nothing really went well for Travis in his life but it wasn’t necessarily other people’s fault. He took his date to see a porn film because I’m not sure he’s exactly experienced in the area of women. He got really angry...but not at himself. But he turns from villain to hero at the end which I respect.
Taxi Driver for me is a good film but something didn’t hit me as it did with literally everyone else that has watched this film.
