i was so amused when merab left up his spirited away poster during his breakdown when i first watched this, but this time i noticed that the first time irakli was at his house, he saw the poster and commented on it being the same as his tattoo.. and it was the first time merab felt seen by irakli, the first time he realized he was noticing him, and leaving the poster up was an act of holding on to a memory. allowing a moment of sadness to swallow you up, but not wanting to erase everything that led you there. because yes, sadness can stem from a loss, but there are pieces or mementos that can make it feel like more bearable. a reminder of what was; a reminder that the love will always live inside you.
