Amazing that people straight-up willingly use "mid-century modernism" in a non-pejorative sense now. Tati's spinning in his grave.

Overall, a masterful argument in favour of curtains.

Pretty much exactly what I expected it would be going in, but it was a lot of fun. Anderson's getting a little better at wrangling these huge ensemble casts into something workable, and the anthology structure really kept this one zippin' along.

The Benicio del Toro section was the strongest, the Summer of '69 stuff the weakest, and the Roebuck 3rd act -- despite Anderson throwing it all at the wall for another stupid chase sequence that he can't stop…

Nic Cage Ratatouillied the Hereditary guy's scary dad. Just Ratatouillied the hell out of him.

Just as wacko as I remember, but I was still dragged along second to second despite its total disregard for any real continuity. The scene in which the girls collectively experience and narrate a flashback to WW2 and the atomic bombings is a perfect microcosm of this movie in general: A garish and intentionally amateurish layer of special effects and formal playfulness melts off in an explosion of blood and tinsel to reveal a surprisingly affecting -- but still glucose-rich -- emotional core. Also the Kung Fu music was great
