Nolan movies are always better on rewatch, but I don’t think I’ve liked one this much more the second time around. My initial rating was a tentative 4-stars, but I’m feeling a strong 4.5-stars this time!
The first time I thought it was a cool concept that was overly confusing and jumped the shark to the point of neglecting character and story. While some of that is still valid criticism, going into this again I didn’t think I’d love it like I did. I connected with the characters more, surprisingly understood everything going on, and I GOT TO USE SUBTITLES! I think going in knowing the story allowed me to sit back and enjoy it rather than giving myself a headache trying to figure out what’s happening. I mean they even say in the movie:
“Don’t try to understand it. Feel it.”
