Ben Buckingham’s review published on Letterboxd:
The Steppenwolf growing/fading in the metropolis. The restless heart tears great absences (family - culture - architecture - history).
How do we see, here? An impartial eye? The eye of a Belgian witnessing a post-modern city in upheaval, devouring itself in decay & rebirth? The eye of a child of the 80s (myself) who has never been to the USA, & yet to whom all is alien yet familiar as the backdrop to cinematic dystopias? Can all these eyes become one?
What if there is no nostalgia for home, & the present is too now to be beautiful, yet?
All that is solid melts into light.
