At the very heart of this film is a love story. Not your run of the mill love story, but a love story none the less.
Lee (Gyllenhaal) is a recovering self harmer and has problems at home, where she lives with her parents. When Lee starts working as a secretary for Mr Grey (Spader) she find an 'out' from self harming and from this a beautiful relationship starts to form.
On the sly I'm a rom com fan and at the end of the film it left me as warm as any other rom com has over the years. It's different, sure, but I laughed and was shocked in parts as Lee and mr Grey come to terms with their alternative lifestyle.
Well worth a watch, but don't put it on when your parents are in the room or when the in-laws are visiting!
