Discostink’s review published on Letterboxd:
15 year old William Miller on a journey with Stillwater and trying to get an interview with Rolling Stone magazine in 1973.
Rock n Roll is dying. Lester Bangs tells us as much.
I can't believe I've never watched this film before. I've always noticed it, just always been tempted by other movies. I now wish i'd seen it in 2000. What this film does is drag you in to the life of William and you feel part of the adventure. You're as aware as William as to the advice that Lester Bangs gives young William and you hope he stays true to the upbringing his mum has given him.
The Rock n Roll lifestyle of Stillwater is fascinating and fun but as with any group living together 24/7 and using drugs and drinking, cracks are formed and relationships are strained.
Just remember that at no point in this film are they your friend.
