I am in love with Leslie Feinberg.
"Now let's not play sillybuggers, eh? I'll just have to pop you in the botty with one of my special potions, mmm?"
I really wish this whole film was just Tom Hardy acting wildly in the vaudeville theatre hall, his electrifying performance is what saves this from the worst of Refn's usual pitfalls.
An artistic high point for Riz Ahmed's career, superb performance from an actor I'm already quite fond of after his supporting role in Nightcrawler.
Paul Raci also brings an incredible performance as Joe, forming a strong basis for the emotional core of the second half of the film.
I feel like a lot of people (mainly in film groups) put this film down because it isn't an esoteric art film. I've always been of the opinion that art that's easily accessible is just as valid, especially when the film in question is this good at exploring its themes and offering a satifying and cathartic conclusion.
