I like action.
Especially martial arts.
Especially the Hong Kong kind.
It’s impressive just how much the 2nd half of this movie is better than the 1st. Almost feels like 2 different movies. I must say I didn’t like it at first but slowly it won me over by focusing on the right characters and Stephen Chow doing Stephen Chow things.
It’s an outright mess, so watch only if you like messy movies. It’s in the veins of The Bride with White Hair, the Swordsman trilogy, and A Chinese Ghost Story…

Still enjoyable and there are some great fights. However, the third act really brings the movie down due to some odd narrative choices/missed opportunities, CGI sequences that…
Good Jet Li vehicle, recommended for fans of his.
Stunts - 74/100
Narrative - 62/100 | Morgan Freeman sheltering Jet Li from a savage slave owner is a cross-over I didn't expect.
Fight Choreography - 79/100 | Bringing in Yuen Woo-Ping for the choreography paid off, although you can quite clearly see the divide between choreography and editing. They don't seem fully on the same page, with the Hollywood-style of editing trying to break its way through the smooth…
Project A? More like Project "S" for Stunts!
I know, I know, that title's already taken. Would still make more sense than the current title holder.
Stunts - 100/100 | Absolutely ridiculous. Not only from Jackie Chan but his whole crew as well. Damn are these guys impressive!
Narrative - 68/100 | Apparently this is a movie about stopping pirates until the story completely forgets about them for like an hour or so. I'm not complaining too much though…
