Pixar did it again with this beautiful, thought provoking & touching love story.
WALL•E (Waste Allocation Load Lifter Earth-Class) is a masterclass in sound design & the genius of Ben Burtt, making you feel so deeply for what is [in essence] a garbage compactor, providing the little machine with so much heart, soul & pathos, in a similar way to Johnny 5 in Short Circuit, making you question what it truly means to be alive. There are some human characters (including fabulous cameos from Fred Willard & Sigourney Weaver) once the action moves to space & aboard the Axiom (which itself features a brilliant homage to 2001 & Alien) but this is at its best when it focuses on the title character's love of show tunes (specifically from Hello Dolly), his pet cockroach & for the Extraterrestrial Vegetation Evaluator (EVE) sent to Earth in search of life
