Saw this on the big screen for the first time tonight. It's the most perfectly paced film in history. Every single scene is a winner. Every single scene is absolutely essential. There are 100s of extraordinary films but only a select few can have that said about them. This is one of them. A masterclass.
Shaw's USS Indianapolis speech is so haunting, Dreyfuss' facial expressions are off the charts and Scheider's everyman appeal is eternal.
