I fucking loved this.
Yes it's over earnest, yes it's simplistic in its principles. But I do genuinely think this could be quietly revolutionary for at least some of its target audience.
The micro aggressions that gradually build until Vivian can't take any more feel vivid. Inspired by the intelligent, assertive, funny new classmate Lucy, as well as her mother's past, Vivian sets about creating a feminist zine that quickly starts a mini movement.
There are many air punching moments, the cast are great, and Amy Poehler directs with an assured touch that was only hinted at in her previous film Wine Country.
Fabulous soundtrack, too.
