Videodrome ★★★★

Undoubtedly ahead of its time as the various themes explored here still resonate to this day, David Cronenberg's Videodrome is a truly surrealistic and entirely original sci-fi horror film that favorably gives the audience viewing this much to think about throughout its 89-minute runtime.

Though most of these grand notions do get slightly intricate for their own good particularly as the film nears its end, the film nonetheless manages to make its rather odd premise work quite well as it takes the viewer on a downward spiral with James Woods' lead character who no doubt efficiently carries the film well enough, while the remarkable body horror practical make-up effects put forth by Rick Baker here likewise help establish Videodrome to stand out over time as well.
