"Wrath of Man" might just be the biggest surprise of the year and certainly one of Guy Ritchie's best movies to date. Jason Statham is terrific here, he's playing a fairly familiar character but he's turning in some of the best work of his career and this is easily one of my new favorite performances from him. The rest of the stacked ensemble from the likes of Josh Hartnett, Jeffrey Donavan, Scott Eastwood and Holt McCallany are all a lot of fun too even if some aren't given a whole lot to do. A lot of recent movies with non-linear structures have bugged me but the way Ritchie executes that aspect here really worked and honestly elevated this from being just another revenge thriller. The action is brutal and the entire third act had me on the edge of my seat. Honestly the only real flaw I have with this was a section in the second act that dragged a bit but other than that I thought this was great. It's already a pretty solid action thriller but Ritchie and Statham make it more than that and managed to even surprise me on more than one occasion. Definitely one worth checking out.
